Hey all. I got a nice red Outlander 2017, but the starter died. Dealer wanted 1400$ for the part alone. So I bought a remanufactured one.

Going to replace myself, I've been told it's under the intake manifold.

Any way to get at it without removing the manifold?

Experienced mechanic, but never worked on anything newer than 2010 until now LOL

You do not need to remove the manifold. It comes out from underneath. Disconnect the battery first, then undo the main cable to the starter. Its in a tight spot but not too hard. then undo the mounting bolts and rotate it out. it may be easier if you remove the throttle body first.
