Attention, those who run mostly in full EV mode

HI, Just letting everyone know something I learned at the dealer yesterday. We went in for our first oil change (3,300 kms @ 5 months) - the tech reported the oil had a yellow tint to it, indicating condensation he said and although it was the first 2023 PHEV he'd worked on, he asked if we ran mostly in EV mode, to which I said yes (95% of the time). He suggested we run the engine more often. This seems a bit counterintuitive to me, given there is no reference in the manual and it allows us to run in pure EV mode most of the time. Anyone else encounter this, i.e., normally such condensation would be the result of a poor seal somewhere in the system? Cheers.

Thanks for the info. I checked mine yesterday at 2300 miles, looked normal. I drive in EV at least 85% of the time.
Hello - The yellow tint is the oil itself meaning it was clean. My 23's oil is yellow like any other new car would be.

If it had water the oil would be white in color and more sludgy.

Maybe the Mitsubishi tech was color blind, i.e., I didn't see it and was only going by what he told me that it had condensation in it and to run the engine more often (he asked me if I ran mostly in EV mode, so the oil color must have triggered that thought process). Who knows, maybe Mitusubishin doesn't want us running in pure EV mode most of the time? One question I did have, given how little gas we're using, but haven't asked them yet, is whether or not it's wise to put some fuel stabiliser in the tank, even though the PHEV is supposed to cycle the ICE on every few months?
I guess its hard to say but he was correct in saying that we should run the engine as part of owning a hybrid.

Regards - Mike
