I recently replaced brake pads on the rear of my 19 Outlander SEL. The right rear caliper seized up. The mechanic says to sell it because I'd have to change the calipers on every brake pad change. He says no part store sells them aftermarket, and I'd have to send my truck to the dealership. That's a pretty penny. Any suggestions or advice? I cannot afford another vehicle right now.

First, I'd suggest getting a second opinion from a shop you trust. You might also consider, depending on your operating environment, setting up a periodic caliper service.
Thanks for your response. I had another look at it and he manually reset the caliper (I believe). But none the less, it's fixed without having to spend an arm and a leg. His labor involved going backwards and forwards. Jacking the vehicle up. Spinning the wheel while the brakes was being pressed at different motions. Took it on a drive, let it sit, then another drive and viola' no more scrapping and scrubbing, caliper going on and it normally. I guess I'm saying this right, but either way I ended up paying him $10.
