Hello every one,
I have a new 2022 Outlander, from 24 0f May
Pleasure use and only 2211 KM on it
Image

Today in the morning started the engine and
there was the warning sign:

"Engine Malfunction, Power Reduced, Service NOW"

After restarting the engin second time in 2 min. - it disapired...
So I called the Mitsubishi servie and
They've told me that it is very serious
And you have to bring your vehicle for check up...
1.Is any one has the same problem ?
2. Hope some one knows how could it be happen with NEW vehicle?
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum @Tomas. Sorry to hear about what happened with your Outlander. When the notification came on did anything else happen before?

Have you taken it to your dealer yet? Until they look at it it's hard to say what it could be. It could be anything from the battery to engine or transmission.

Hello Wanderer,
And thank you for your response,
I've made an appointment to Mitsubishi service for Tomorrow,
They've told me,
If sign is gonna come up again - bring it
ASAP.
But Since yesterday, vehicle drivers without Any problems & warnings,

The reason I'm kind of "impressed" -
It is my 4th Mitsubishi vehicle,
(1 Montero for 15 years & 2 Outlanders for four years) I've been the only owner
For them from the first day,
And All of them I just did:
Oil change, brakes, battery & Tires (Montero)
and of course gas...
My New 2022 Outlander has top of the line package with huge amount of
Electronic futures,
So,
Could it be some glitch from this
Point of view instead of from
battery, engine or transmission?
Thank you Wanderer!

The computer at the service Place didn't find any problem with my vehicle and mechanic have told me that it could be related with battery,
It is possible,
That some one just didn't turn off the light,
So battery was
almost empty.
So far (7 Days)
I didn see any more
"warning sighns".

Good luck to everybody!

I just got the same error message, my battery died twice prior to this experience , I couldn't start the car and the Dealership picked up the car. They charged up the battery and told me everything is fine. This Engine Malfunction Power Reduced is very concerning for a car with less than 1,000 miles View attachment 237

Been happening to me since 3k miles. So far it has came on 5 times. Once I was able to get it to the dealership with the warning light on. Threw 22 codes. They kept it for 3 days and couldn't figure out anything. Cleared all the codes. Each time it comes on I shut t he vehicle off and let it reset and its dosnt come back on for a while. Talked to the dealership and they said If I can't bring it in when it comes on start documenting it with a timestamp camera for records. They have been in contact with Mitsubishi direct and everything was documented. I honestly don't think they knew what to do with it at the dealership. I even overheard the comment "its so new I don't even know if we can get parts for it". They told me hopefully more 22 Outlander owners have TGE same issue and a recall can be issued to fix the problem. At least the vehicle dosnt drive weird and its goes off when we reset the vehicle. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that they figure it out for us. View attachment 256
I had the same issue twice now on my 2022 outlander, I turned the car on and off couple of times and it went away. Then engine light came on so I drove it home and parked. After 5 minutes I started it and all was fine and no engine light. I’ve taken it previously to the dealership they said they don’t dine any issue with the vehicle.

This exact thing has been happening to me. My car has never shut off and rides fine. The 1st time it happened I called Mitsubishi dealership and he told me not to panic and it may be a false message. They never found anything wrong. it does this very very sporadically but yes it is concerning I dont have a lot of miles on this thing. They need to do a recall.

My daughter's 2022 outlander has the same problem it's been in 4 times for repair it's hard to start in the cold weather and the Dash lights go out and the stereo don't work the dealer offered her a battery Warner I mean give me a break it's a nice looking vehicle but Mitsubishi has not worked the bugs out all I can say is beware of buying the New outlander

Hello everyone,

Today is exactly one month since I bought the Mitsubishi Outlander 2022 ES. Have driven around 1700kms so far. This is my first ever car that I have purchased and I'm not feeling at peace. When it stays outside in extreme cold (-20 to -30degC)for over 20..30mins..the engine would sound like its starting but would turn off. All the warning lights show up: the malfunction light, the steering wheel light(with exclamation), low fuel warning(even if there's fuel). It would do the same thing for a few times and then finally turn on with the malfunction light but disappears a few mins later once it's on the move. Unsure what the issue is. I went to the showroom immediately and the sales person just said it's extreme weather so it tends to happen and asked me to book an appointment with the service centre for diagnosis(if its covered under warranty). I feel disappointed. Any suggestions on how to deal with this situation would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same. I restarted, it hasn't reoccurred since. I'm in America

Same message happened on my 2022 Outlander SEL twice, both times upon starting the car in sub zero (F) weather. The first time the check engine light disappeared after restarting the car. The second time, today, it only disappeared half a day later, despite multiple restart attempts. The engine ran normally despite the reduced power message. I’ll keep you posted on what the dealer finds. I hope this turns out to be a reliable winter car. Need it up here in VT.

So, I’ve had the same message as photographed by Patrickboro above. Happened twice, in cold, sub-zero (F) weather. Yellow check for engine light stayed on for half a day the second time, despite multiple engine restarts.
Brought the car into the Burlington Mitsubishi dealer today (highly recommend them). They told me that they’ve seen this issue multiple times before. It is fixed by a software update. Below is a list of the fault codes that my car had stored. One of them is the reduce engine power fault, most are parking sensor codes (I get those when the front bumper is too dirty or covered with snow/ice). Also listed below is the software update they did on the car. Interestingly the car engine doesn’t run the same after this update. It is quieter, smoother (less of that direct injection clatter), less vibrations in low revs and also… wait for it… less powerful in low revs. I do like it better after the software update regardless.
