Rear differential going out???

Hi all! I have a 2014 2.4l base model w/AWD. I have a growling/groaning nose coming from what seems like the rear end. My first thought was wheel bearings but I checked all of them front and rear and they all seem good. Then I talked to a mechanic friend of my BIL and he said that maybe it was my rear differential. How would I go about checking that out? I always get full service when I get my oil changed and they said that the fluid level in it is good.

Thanks in advance,
Kris

Have you tow this vehicle by 2 wheels? AWD only can be towed on flatbed. You should have power train warranty so if you have a problem then get the car to nearest dealer. But if you towed the wrong way you probably fry the viscous coupling and need to be replaced, if you check the fluid it will be burnt and smell really bad.
