Hello,
My wife purchased a 22 SEL and loves it. But there is a big problem vs any other SUV she’s driven in snow. The rear end of this thing on ice or a snow covered road, feels like it’s going to let loose.
I’m well aware of OEM tires on most new cars are crap, so we replaced the Nexen Roadians w/a set of highly rated Vredestein A/S.
She called me today on her way of town, and said she is still experiencing the same issue, even in Snow Mode. The first instance of the fish tailing feel was traveling down a road that was all ice. Sure there were some ruts, where it melted and froze up again, but I was doing 30 mph. And while the steering wheel seemed to be straight, the rear felt like the tires were completely flat.
I defeated alot of the electronic assisted stuff in Settings w/the exception of Traction Control, but this feeling of instability isn’t good. Is the S-AWC system just overkill on this and can that be defeated as well?
Everything else in great, but she traded in a high mileage Outback that felt way more sure footed. Yes Subies are one of the best in this regard. I drive a RWD Infiniti M35 in the snow and don’t have this loose rear end feel traveling down snowy roads unless I get on it.
Thanks for any input!
