We recently purchased a brand new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. We notice that when it is put in Reverse there is a loud noise coming from underneath the car. Sounds a bit like a high speed gear whine. There is a much lower, but similar, noise when the car is stopped in drive also. Curious if other owners have a similar experience, or if this is a mechanical issue that will have to be dealt with by the dealer. Hope a couple of other 2022 owners will pipe up. Thanks to all.

It is probably the electrical pedestrian warning noise There is a button by the steering wheel to turn it off. See if this stops your noise. it defaults to on, everytime you start the car

Thanks, that sounds like a very reasonable explanation. I will try your solution, but if this is a normal noise I am not overly concerned about it, just worried that it might be a mechanical problem somewhere.
