Towing a poptpp caravan tare 1100

I have a 2010 Outlander with 190k and CVT transmission. I get conflicting advice on whether l can safely tow a toptop van with 1100kg tare. What is the experience of members? Currently towed by a 2.7 Toyota Hilux but it is clearly the farm vehicle and the Outlander had more comfort.
