Mine did this today. I feel like it's a common issue
ours has done it several times. In addition the heater and fan will not turn on as well as the doors lock and can't get out of the vehicle. Folding mirrors also act up.

The dealer is unable to determine or source the failures. They have had it for going on two weeks now and they say they are waiting on new relays from Mitsubishi.
I can't get any logical answers and am stuck with this problematic vehicle which is now a safety concern in addition to being an inconvenience.
It seems they didn't make the outlander for cold weather!!!!

Ive said this few times, outlander struggles in cold. I think it uses gas heavenly. Like extreme until its warm. Not good at all. Im hoping its related to fuel pump in some way.

I got this malfunction warning after my son stuck his fingers into the gas tank to demonstrate to his brother "LOOK, IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A CAP!". After restarting, it went away. But now I'm nervous that it'll happen again!

Hi everyone! I just had this same message, along with some collision avoidance amber warning lamps. I'm not driving it, as it says "service now". I am waiting to have a tow set up & am working with the dealership. From what they say, this could be due to a software update that is needed. Hope to update everyone soon.
2022 Outlander SE w/S-AWC
8670 miles
2 months since driving away from the dealership.

Anyone get an update from the dealer on this?

This afternoon we turned the car on and got this same Warning "Engine Malfunction, Power Reduced Service Now". We are at 9051 miles and have had the car for just over 1 year.
Ironically, we have a reservation with a service center for tomorrow already scheduled to fix the two recalls for the fuel pump received in March 2022 and for the Alliance In-Vehicle Infotainment (A-IVI) system to be reprogrammed from August 2022.

We will add this to the list, but am worried this is not safe to drive as the dealer is about 75 miles away.

Just got this message as well, 300ish miles on the Outlander. Because there is nothing mechanically wrong, no engine noise, valve noise, no CVT slip or issues I assume more than likely there is some CANBUS module not communicating correctly. I keep a code reader in the trunk, I'll see if there is any stored/pending codes tomorrow. I just pulled over, shut down the motor, opened the door twice to simulate exiting and entering the vehicle. In some CABNUS systems they flag when a driver enters and exist the vehicle, this can reset timers and things for module checks. Fired up, no warning, drove home just fine.

This is a new gen vehicle and its running A LOT of modules that have to constantly communicate with various control systems and small computers. If I have any pending codes I'll post here and also give the dealer an ear beating about it. More than likely there will be several flashes and software updates over then next 2 years to these vehicles.

If you get this warning, take a breath and think: Does your rpm hunt around? Do you have power if you step into the throttle? Did your engine suddenly get shakey and/or loud? Do you hear any whining noises? If you stop/start the engine does the error go away? Does it shudder/vibrate under light throttle? If no, then most likely just some dumb communication issue on the bus network.

Pulled my scan tool out, car has no current or pending codes from either the ECM or TCM. No freeze frame data or anything suggesting the error was outside just an ecu or communications glitch.

My daughter's 2022 outlander has the same problem it's been in 4 times for repair it's hard to start in the cold weather and the Dash lights go out and the stereo don't work the dealer offered her a battery Warner I mean give me a break it's a nice looking vehicle but Mitsubishi has not worked the bugs out all I can say is beware of buying the New outlander View attachment 262

I have a 2023 outlander with 3000 miles . I got the same warning yesterday , June 4th .

Just happened to my 2023 Outlander and occurred after releasing the ignition switch too fast that it sounded like an engine stall. Happened before but it was a full engine stall when releasing the button too soon. I’m thinking it was just a rough start and not letting the starter give the engine its full power at startup. Will monitor and report back.

Happened to mine 2 days ago. Turned the car off then back on and it was fine. Took it into the dealership today to be looked at and they said there was a recall for that problem dealing with the onboard system. They still looked at the engine and found a loose wire. They fixed it and sent me on my way.

Greetings All, Just happened to me this morning. Not sure what the issue is. Going to dealer to get it looked at today. Will re-post any info later.

Some one stole my Converter on my 2017 Mitsubishi outlander sports. Took it to the dealer ans realized it's was a mistake. First they install an aftermarket Converter with out my knowledge. , my vehicle broke down in pa on the highway because the mesh they weld on the bottom of my vehicle ground on the oxygen sensor and blow the fuse and kill the vehicle. It cost me $978.00 to fix in pa . Took it back to Brooklyn dealer they give me back my money . The pa dealer told they installed aftermarket Converter .

I have a 2023 SEL that I’ve had for about 8 months now. I got this warning on a Wednesday and drove it to the dealership. They kept it for 2 days as the technician said it was throwing a lot of codes. Finally they said the last code was the battery, but there wasn’t anything wrong with the battery.
Picked it up and was told if the warning pops back up just bring it back. They were sending the report to warranty to have a paper trail as to what’s happening.
