This seems to be a common response from EVERY Mitsubishi and Nissan dealer. I believe this needs to be pushed into a class action suit against them, as it is obviously an engineering f-up.

same here i have a 2022 outlander no damage to the bumper they told me i had to replace the sensor and recalibrate the sensor spoke to corporate and they were useless. 2 outlander ive gotten and will be the last

I found my front camera has a chip in it. I think this is my issue. My car is in perfect condition. After reading everyone’s threads I inspected closely and while I have not been able to confirm with 100% certainty it’s the only explanation that makes sense.

Like it or not, the dealer either need to prove the bent bracket was as a result of a collision or its a warranty matter for Mitsubishi to deal with. Simply saying 'the car has been hit' and there is no evidence of contact or other damage would not work in a court of law. I suggest you give them the opportunity to prove there was damage from a collision/bump/whatever, or suggest legal recourse on them and the parent Mitsubishi company. Seems to me from reading this forum there is more than enough to mount a class action over this.

Hey. I do have the same issue. Can happen anytime. Before going to anywhere I make sure that sensor is clean. Local Mitsubishi service manager told me that Mitsubishi Canada know there is a problem with GPS, what I don’t believe one second. Got that car in December. No crack no impact or any damage on the sensor or camera or anything else. Talk to another Mitsubishi service manager. She told me that she never heard that kind of issue. I’m in Alberta Canada

In fairness I had a similar problem on mine a month or so back. The car in 14months old and 10000km on it and had been serviced two months earlier. The alert came on while driving on open road, but went off again after a 20 mins or so. A week later it came on again and this time stayed on for a few days. I contacted my dealer and explained the issue in detail. They had no idea and said to bring it in. The night before I was to take it in the alert light went out. The dealer said no sense to bring it is unless it is in fault as they cannot trace the issue unless it is faulting. Its now been 4 weeks and the issue has not re appeared. I checked the bracket and cabling and everything seemed firm and in place. No idea and certainly nothing the dealer was aware of.
Reading the forum it certainly seems a prevalent problem with USA/Canada vehicles. Again perhaps an issue for a class action

Hi everyone, I'm in Australia, have a 2022 Outlander and have the same issue. It's been happening since I purchased the car! The local dealer can't find a fault during a diagnostic test so no warranty claim, it's just keeps costing me money. The dealer told me about the bent bracket and after researching and reading here it seems to be the normal response. How can there be so many bent brackets in the world?
Not only have I lost the radar but also the rear collision sensor and all parking sensors, even has showed a system fault that doesn’t show on diagnostics. No the entertainment system is playing up again!
I rang the dealer yesterday to chat to the GM, who I've known for many years, and then received a call from the service department. My car goes in AGAIN next week, so hopefully it gets repaired.
I love the car but the problems are making me frustrated, I'm on the verge of getting rid of it!

You write its been happening, suggesting the fault clears itself ??? or is the dealer always clearing it.,
I have a MY24 Phev and it has happened twice to me. First time it lasted a few km and cleared, second time was several months later and it lasted 3 days I had booked in to see the dealer and the fault self cleared the night before so there was nothing for them to look at. I certainly have not has a bent bracket. A few weeks again i got recall letter from Mistsubishi that my car was effected by intermittent issue with the electronics that control things like adaptive cruise and collision mitigation etc. Seems the fault is within the steering wheel system and the entire steering wheel was replaced . I asked at the time if it could have been the culprit and dealer wasnot sure but given it was the sensor activity used for driving aids he conceded it was perhaps possible. May be something to ask your dealer about.

The fault sometimes clears itself, sometimes I have to stop and restart the car, sometimes if I drive under 40 kmh. I have had it last 20 k's and anything up to 3 days. It's even thrown up a system fault but not seen on the diagnostic gear. It certainly plays up with the adaptive cruise and collision mitigation.
I haven't had a recall as yet but the intertainment system is intermittently playing up. Interesting about the steering wheel, I will certainly mention it when the dealer looks at it next week for the fifth time.
Thanks for the info.

According to letter I recieved it Looks like the recall effected certain models in the MY23/MY24 range.
An MY23 car can in fact be delivered from a late month ( like sep - dec) 2022 build. It is a weird system about how they 'age' the vehicle. Could be worth your dealer checking with Mitsubishi Motors Aus if your VIN number falls in the range

Hi all,
I've just had a thought.
I'm using aftermarket LED globes in the interior of the car, does anyone else having problems use LED's or them original globes. I'm thinking the difference in electrical load might be causing the CanBus to have a hissy fit.
I'd be interested in your thoughts.
Also, as an update on my car, it was checked out by the dealer again yesterday. The can see a fault on the diagnostics but don't know what it means! They are going to check in with Mitsubishi Australia to find out! They even admitted that the bracket is NOT bent as I was told before on two previous occasions!
Stay tuned.

thanks for the info Australia about the recall, i was gonna suggest possibly birds getting hit (every time i have hit one i don't notice any damage), or rock hitting somehow perfectly camera.

I am not sure how far globally the recall applies. I believe the Outlander for USA is not manufactured in the same country/plant as the Outlander supplied to Australia.

Has your issue been resolved?
We recently had the same problem (bent bracket) due to a super minor front end collision. More like a tap. There's no other marks or scratches on the car, but it must have deformed the bumper enough to bend the bracket. Seems like it doesn't take much. Could probably do it with a medium strength kick in the front radar.

My dealer is quoting $900 to replace the bracket and re-calibrate, despite the bracket itself only costing $60.
That's on top of the initial $165 to do the inspection/fault find.

I'm keen to hear what other people have paid for this kind of repair. I have a MY22 Aspire BTW.

No, my issue is ongoing. At present I have no front collision system or cruise control! The dealer has admitted there is no damage and the bracket is not bent. The module sits behind the grille.

I was initially told the bracket was bent, $65 for the bracket, $375 to replace and re-calibrate the system.

The dealer said they can see a fault but don't know what it is! They have spoken to Mitsubishi Australia and waiting on a reply. I hope that's soon, it's been going on since I purchased the car in January 2023.

Ah ok, thanks for the quick reply. $375 + bracket seems far more reasonable. That's what another dealer told me over the phone just now.
Out of interest, which dealership told you that price?

$900 is wild.
I'm going to have some strong words with my local one.

Sorry your issue is unresolved. Mine is at least fairly straight forward as the bracket is bent.

I just checked the service reports, $62.99 for the bracket and $350 labour. That's through Launceston Mitsubishi here in Tassie.

It took a phone call asking for the GM to really get them moving, up until then I just felt fobbed off!

Good luck.
